Here at the DoubleTree Edinburgh City Centre, we place huge value on our Giving Something Back programme which outlines our collective commitment to our people, our community, and our environment. We are taking accountability and are striving to become a carbon neutral hotel by 2025 with the aim of ensuring a positive future for both the company and the hospitality industry.

At the helm of this amazing initiative are a passionate group of employees with a unique set of skills who we have aptly named ‘The Green Team’

This team will develop, implement, and drive the hotels Green Initiatives some of which include:

• Gaining a Green Tourism Accreditation

• All single-use plastic removed from the hotel

• A 25% reduction in landfill waste

• 100% sustainably sourced fresh produce and a supplier base entirely committed to the company’s sustainable ethos

• Hotel to offer electrical car charging points to help speed up the country’s transition to electric vehicles

• Introducing our Meet with Purpose Daily Delegate Rate. Elevating meetings by Giving Something Back to the Environment and delegates

How can you get involved?

It’s easy for all of our guests to get involved in many ways. For example simply separate your recyclable waste in your bedroom and our team will ensure it goes in the correct waste stream. In our meeting rooms we even have segregated waste bins for guests to use.

• Hang your wet towels back on the towel rack or bathroom hooks and we will not replace them.

•  Remember to switch off your lights and electrical items when you leave the bedroom.

•  Cycle or walk around town instead of using vehicles. We have walking maps at reception, contacts with local bike hire companies and can securely store bikes within the hotel for you.
